Welcome to the Professorship of Health Care Ethics at the Faculty of Catholic Theology!
Health Care Ethics encompasses diverse and sometimes challenging ethical decision-making situations that arise in particular in medical and care-related practice. It involves the analysis, evaluation and consequently also the formulation of ethical points of reference to guide practice through processes and strategies. The focus is on the well-being of the individual. Due to medical-technical developments and research in the biomedical sector, ethicists are constantly confronted with new challenges. Questions often arise from advances in reproductive medicine, genetic research, new methods of disease treatment and social changes in moral judgments and values.
